So Sea Fever and Compass Rose head out from Jekyll Harbor marina with a niee breeze and an outgoing tide. Gennys out and turn the corner into Jekyll Sound and away we go...6.0...6.5...7.0...7.5..8.0...8.4..knots..wow..but wait..."Compass Rose. this is a great sail but we were supposed to turn about a mile back" ..No we go out around the red at the sound entrance". Negative..chartplotter shows a right turn! Zoom out chartplotter...oh. never mind..I was zoomed in too tight...8.5...9.0...9.5. knots...Wheeeee!!!
Once out far enough to start the turn back on the south side of the sound.. 2-3 foot waves..burying the bow into every wave... whoa..that one washed over the cabin top and across the windshield!
Around the corner and south with rollers on our sterns most of the way..and now against the tide! Still a great sail even against the tide!
