Still at Fort matanzas- 1.26.12

Well, Compass Rose is still waiting in St. Augustine for their fresh water pump- hopefully they'll make repairs today and join us here by mid-day tomorrow.  I took the opportunity to visit the Fort yesterday- very interesting and long history of Spanish, French and British presence.

Sea Fever and Mindfulness from the roof of Fort Matanzas- 1.25.12

I have my engine running now- seems my fridge isn't keeping things as cold as it should, so I'm hoping it is just because the batteries are a bit low- Guess I'll know if that's the case in an hour or so.
Now we'll see what the day brings!

St Augustine to Fort Matanzas- 1.23.2012

After waiting for a serious fog to lift, and filling up with diesel and water at the St. Augustine marina, Sea Fever joined Compass Rose on the way to Fort Matanzas, a nice anchorage about 15 miles south of St. Augustine.  About 3/4 of the way there, Compass Rose was forced to drop anchor when her engine quit.  Turns out they wll need a new water pump and had to be towed back to St Augustine to find the part and make the repairs.  Sea Fever continued on to the Matanzas River and anchored with Mindfulness (who had moved down the day before) and M/V HazelAnn who got out of St Augustine earlier during a break in the fog.  Mindfulness and Sea Fever plan to stay near Fort Matanzas while we wait for Compass Rose.

Jan 18th update- starting at Fernandina Harbor Marina

The day started with a beautiful sunrise but wind and rain delayed departure from Fernandina Beach until about 9:30.  Little did we realize that would lead to another delay for Sea fever.  With tide approaching just south of the town, I ran aground and had to sit until the tide floated me about 50 minutes later.
Compass Rose continued on and made it to Palm Cove, while Sea Fever and Mindfulness took our time, dodging what turned out to be a succession of shoals.  But- we made it to Sisters Creek, and dropped our hooks just off the ICW.  Tomorrow- St. Augustine!

The Adventure begins 1/1- 1/9/2012

We have begun our adventure to florida, the Keys and on to the Bahamas- at least that is the plan.

M/V Hazel Ann left Cooper River Marina, Charleston, SC on Jan. 1.  The rest of us (S/V Sea Fever, S/V Compass Rose, and S/V Mindfulness) had a few additional tasks to take care of, but we all got off Friday morning- Jan 6.
Our first night was spent in Toogoodoo Creek.  The next day we continued to Beaufort, where we spent a second day and night.  This morning we left anchorage in Beaufort and are now at anchor in the New River, just north of the Savannah river, and a crossing into Georgia.
